...- - -...Smile they're watching you

Single at this point means we have already traveled quite a journey to get here.

Where was navigation 🧭🗺️ when I needed it to steer me away from the wrong turns I took?💭.

Along the way we’ve had to reintroduce ourselves in every relationship;
our children, our parents, our friends
and everyone under the sun who ever cast a ray of sunshine on our heart.

We had to take a brave stance,
holding it together if only for the benefit of the outside world.
Easy to say,
harder to do,
as we mourn all the relationships we once had —
because we’re no longer viewed as the same.

How could we be?
We are now looking at ourselves in the third person,
“Who was that?”
“What was she thinking”?”

Then I wonder 💭
“Where do I go from here?”
“How do I breathe ?“

💭My brain and my heart keep trying to override one another, ——
my brain insists it isn’t personal,
but my heart knows it always is💭

💭Smile they’re watching….
and yes they saw you trip along the way.
And knowing my kids, they replayed it in slow motion.
Oh how they love to laugh at my expense💭
Yet,
they are the first to pick me 🆙

SOME now see us as a threat!
We’ve probably all had that ‘friend’ who suddenly backed away.
🗯️ What?
I wondered🤔.
Why ? I questioned 🤨.
Oh no! ….I realized 🗯️
But, no worries my friend—
my thought bubble has the answer.
“I do not want your man…”.
Let’s just leave that one alone,
because honestly, that’s on them.

Don’t confuse their story with your own.
If they only knew ….. we’re not out here looking for anyone’s man ….
because her man no way fits our description of Mr WRight!
Our Mr WRight is single and just as emotionally available as we are.

SOME are now jealous of us—
and we have to remind ourselves, that’s also on them.

If they’re ready to start a new chapter in their own life,
they’ll come to that conclusion on their own.
They can’t possibly know the steps that we took to get here,
and it’s best to ignore their judgement.

No I am not suggesting that every relationship ends,—
if I believed that,
I’d have already given up on my search for Mr WRight.

SOME see us as  their therapist,
tossing out all their dirty laundry like we’ve got some insider trade secret to tell them as to whether to throw in the towel or not.
That’s most definitely when I’d pull out my 💭 .
Their insecurities remind me that we all  wrestle with our relationship demons.

I’m no expert on marriage,
what I do know is what doesn’t work.
Hmmm, come to think 🤔 of it…maybe that’s the biggest part!
High five to me—-
I survived to write about it.

SOME become protective,
at the beginning of this new chapter they offer a shoulder to cry on.
They certainly don’t have to understand  through experience—
what matters is they’re not jealous or threatened by our new status.

Instead they help us to breathe again while we’re sorting through it all.
They become a protective ring system watching over our emotional house,
to alert us of danger approaching.
It’s pretty clear to them that we’re too busy dealing with a flooded basement to notice what dangers may be coming our way.

Yes this is the only an analogy,
shamelessly I couldn’t come up with a better one.
Maybe I will edit this later.
No maybe not,
because the truth be told I was indeed bailing out my emotional house.
