Who I am:
I am Belinda.
I donāt claim to be a professional psychologist or therapistā¦
However, after more than 30 years as a licensed cosmetologistā
Just like you bartenders out there
I have earned a degree in listening.
When you spend decades behind the chair,
you become a life expert in more ways than you expected.
From my view, I get to see the world
all from within the salon walls.
Through every person who has sat in my chair,
Iāve had the privilege of learning their stories.
You hear it allā
from love to loss,
laughter to heartache,
and things that can never leave the salon.
āWhat happens in the salon stays in the salon.ā
We know⦠Vegas got this line from us.
Somewhere between all the shampooing and cutting,
wisdom sneaks inā
leaving us with four weeks before we know
if we solved anything at all.
Are we back to the root of the topic?
Or is it just a root touch-up?
This is why I have a motto I love to share with my clients:
āIf you canāt change your life, change your hair.ā
āAnd come to think about itā¦
many of my clients became my Google source in lifeā
only better.
Because they come with stories.
Real-life wisdom that no search engine could!ā
My voice and tone:
I start every subtitle with ā¦- - -ā¦
Itās Morse code forā Save Our Souls.
Just my little twist on the twisted world of dating.
Who is this for:
ā¦- - -ā¦KNOW YOUR AUDIENCE
I believe my perspective on relationshipsā
past, present, and whatever the future thinks itās doingā
will resonate with women of all ages.
That said, Iāll be writing through the lens of my own experiences:
dating over 50 and all the humor I can find.
Being over 50 is fantastic.
Itās the time in our lives when our children are no longer the main focus,
and the spotlight starts drifting back toĀ usā
suddenly youāre like,
āOh hey, there I am.ā
Come on, girlfriendsā
we all know as women we instinctively put others first..
Well stop!!!
itās time to set aside the guilt once and for all.
Allow yourself to carry on with the airlineanalogy
āPlace your own oxygen mask on first before helping others.ā
It feels weird at first, like,
āIs this allowed?ā
Itās actually a relief when we truly give in to this,
when we allow ourselves to be the best version of ourselves
and prioritize our own heart.
Let go of trying to be the best mother, daughter, sister, or friend,
and instead look for your own reflection in your tomorrow.
Now here we are at this point in life,
we think we know what we want in a relationshipā
hmmā¦.. do we really, though?
āā¦ā¦mostly knowā
ā-then the thought bubble pops ā¦
ā¦.āwhat do we know?"
Well, we definitely know what we DONāT want.
The bigger question?
Do we truly recognize what we do want!?
Have we made peace with our broken heart?
Did we address what we carry alone with usā
our so called ābaggage"ā
a word I honestly hate,
but letās be realā¦
no one escapes life without the heartache that fills those bags.
And letās face it,
our baggage ends up costing us more than the airline ever would.
At least the airline tells you the fee upfront ā
ours sneaks into every new relationship,
like a surprise carry-on.
What the readers will get here:
Bubbles that are reflective storytelling with intimate
internal dialogue,
floating through life with a poetic diary feel.
Heart-to-heart conversations,
wrapped up in metaphors and analogies.
Romanticizing, but not unrealistically.
Protective tone without being an alarmist or cynical.
Threads of lyrics in nostalgic rhyme,
to where memories awaken.
Connecting through emotions,
humor added with a compassionate wink,
to lighten the delivery without popping.
